Will this technique work for Very Pale Skinned or Dark Skinned People?

The photo you use is really important. If the photo does not have shadows it is not good for this technique. Professional studio photos are not my favorites because they put so many lights all around the person that wash all of the shadows away. Natural photos (taken out side) are much better than studio photos. I have a quilt I made of a totally white dog and it is awesome because it has light medium and dark values!

My suggestion for light skinned people, dark skinned or any color skin is to choose a photo with natural light.

P.S. Using a photo with no shadows will result in patterns that have way to many fabrics!
